PRODUCT MANAGER-MANAGED APPLICATIONS
The position entails the following:
. Channel Development, including the on-going introduction of new products into
emerging and existing markets and the established customer products .
. Product updates and enhancements
. Providing Sales support via quotations, complex solution designs ,pricing structures,
special price negotiations, technical presentations ,sales training ,demonstrations and
assisting in road shows.
. Providing marketing assistance by researching information and assisting in compiling
news briefs, articles and technical stories for local publication
. Occasionally ,in conjunction with Marketing department, planning and coordinating
product exhibits
. Producing and submitting the following management reports to the Business Unit
Manager: Quarterly NPI status reports; Quarterly Win/Loss reports; Monthly Product
sold reports; Monthly Product Pipeline Reports; Half-yearly Product/Market Status
Reports; Annual budget reports
. Conducting Product Management training
. Product Life-Cycle Management .
Notifying customers with SLA’s when a product or product line has been
discontinued; negotiating SLA terms on obsolete equipment.
Requirements:
. Matric.
. M+3 qualification in telecommunications. electrical or electronic engineering ,sales and/or marketing
. Post-school qualification in Project Management an advantage
. Post-school qualification in Finance an advantage
. Post-school technical qualification an advantage
. Post-graduate qualification in Business Management (MBA/MDP)an advantage
At least five years experience in Product management, Vendor management or Pre-
sales engineering in a telecommunications environment.
. Demonstrable knowledge of commercial contract law, with ability to understand and
amend contracts if required.
. Practical Knowledge of the financial processes around quotations ,order intake and
invoicing.
. Well-developed resource management skills
. Sound knowledge of risk management
. Strong negotiation skills
. Must be willing to take full accountability and responsibility for products
. Strong sense of ethics
. Must be able optimally to perform under stress
. Proven ability to reach dead-lines
. Excellent time management skills
. Strong customer focus
. Willingness to travel extensively to travel domestically and internationally for business
purposes-valid passport a prerequisite
. Proven track record in ensuring optimal quality in products
. Strong sense of confidentiality
