The CBI-electric Group is a division of Reunert Holdings which is a leading South African company listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) in the industrial goods and services (electronic and electrical equipment) sectors. Established in 1935 CBI-electric African cables has been designing and manufacturing a comprehensive range of electrical power cables at their factory in Vereeniging. The company offers a large cabling product range in various categories including: ATC Aberdare Telekom Cables, Automation & Control, DC Energy System, HVAC, Low Voltage, Medium Voltage and Solutions categories. Additional from product manufacturing, the company also incorporates a division specialising in the installation and maintenance of medium and high-voltage cable. This division of the company, known as Power Installations, is presently the sole southern African cable installation company accredited with ISO 9001 quality certification and have a 9EE CIDB rating.

I worked for 19 years for Cbi African Cables which is in Vereeniging. I was dismissed in 2009. The management was and still very, very abusive (to the extreme), they made one feel like he/she was useless and uneducated. I was dismissed due to what they say was my negligence. I took the case to the CCMA and worn the case due to the case conducted by management and HR was un-procedural. At the CCMA I was asked if I wanted to be re-instated which I said NO too, as I did not wanted to work in an abusive work environment. I must say the management of this company knows that it’s difficult for people to get jobs out there so take an advantage of them. I must also stress the CEO/shares holders are non-existence to such a huge cooperation. They have no idea what’s go on. As time when on after my dismal I heard via the people that I work with I was dismissed due to my arrogance and stance I took over abusive management. Vijay Govender
