Tlokwe city council is a municipality previously known as Potchefstroom Municipality. The City has a population of approximately 250 000. Located in the North West Province in Potchefstroom, the city is an important industrial, service and agricultural growth area. Its commercial infrastructure boasts almost 600 businesses including several shopping centers. It is characterized by hot summers with low humidity and its winters are cold. The city has adequate and well developed residential areas to accommodate and deliver sustainable services to its residents. The city’s council is divided into different departments which provide the following services; Corporate, Community, Financial, Housing and Planning, Infrastructure, Economic Development and Public Safety. The council has won some of the most prestigious awards for its sustainability including the Arbor City Award, the Blue and Green Drop Awards and the Vuna Award.
