Hollard

Hollard was established in 1980 by Robert Enthoven and is the largest privately-owned insurance company in South Africa; they also have operations and investments in Namibia, Botswana, Mozambique, Zambia, Australia, the United Kingdom, China, India and Pakistan. They offer a large range of specialist insurance including funeral cover as well as car, household, life, and business insurance. In 2005 they introduced ‘Pay as you drive’, the first motor insurance policy to base premiums on distances travelled in South Africa and in 2006 they became the first insurance company in the country to launch over-the-counter insurance products. Hollard also offers savings and investment solutions to help clients save up a retirement or pension plan or endowment portfolios. They currently administer insurance policies with annual premiums exceeding R16 billion on behalf of more than 7 million policy holders globally.
