REQUIRED: Accountant for an investment company. The post is based in Cape Town They do not require specific industry experience.

The position will fall in the Institutional team with a focus on the Africa ex-SA entities.
Responsible for the financial function of certain allocated Africa ex-SA entities and will be required to ensure the financial function of these entities meets the team’s objective of providing meaningful and value-adding financial, management and regulatory reporting. You will also be required to assist other institutional and overall Group team members as and when may be required.

Main responsibility: Reporting and analysis
You will be responsible for assisting in the presentation of the monthly management reporting and annual audited accounts for specific Africa ex-SA entities including any related foundation entities. You will be responsible for preparation of the monthly reporting from cash book through to financial statements for each of these entities and providing the required reporting to management.
This includes:
o preparation and recording of payments to suppliers;
o cash recording and management, including ensuring sufficient funds available for anticipated payments and any excess into call deposit accounts;
o maintain fixed asset register;
o preparation of monthly journal entries and required reconciliations;
o preparation of the various monthly management reports analysing client assets, income and expenses in each of the entities; as well as
o other ad hoc projects.

Budgeting and forecasting
You will be involved in the annual budget setting exercise for the Africa ex-SA entities. This will be followed during the year by monitoring and reporting on monthly performance against this budget (see above).

Assistance
You will assist the finance team with general matters across the team and entities where required.

Qualifications:
• bachelors degree in accounting (Bcom, BAccSc, BCompt or relevant)
• 3-5 years of relevant post-graduate work experience
• proficient in Microsoft office (excel, word, access)
