Job Description:
? Accounting:
? Prepare and maintain accounting records, Process supplier invoices
? Accounting up to Trial Balance (includes Income, Expenses, Debtors, Creditors, Fixed Assets, Bank Accounts, Suspense Accounts, Petty Cash Reconciliation)
? Update bank account and prepare bank reconciliation
? Payment of Creditors and Creditors Reconciliations
? Assist in the preparation of Monthly Management Accounts.
? Ensure the VAT, PAYE, Income Tax are timeously paid
? Budgets, Forecasts and Weekly Cashflows
? Maintain the Audit File, Month end reporting
? Ensure Commission Statements are sent to brokers

? Premiums
? Premium Deposits and Debit Order Reconciliations
? Premium and Debit Order Disbursements to 3rd parties
? Commission calculations and payments to brokers
? Ensure accurate commission statements are sent to brokers
? Explain/clarify commission calculations

? Insurer Accounting (Underwriting)
? Accurate preparation of monthly Management Reporting to Insurers

? Claims
? Review claims loaded for payment by the Claims Administrator
? First release of claim payments
? Liaise with the bank and administrators regarding claim queries
? Ensure proofs of payments are sent to administrators

? General
? Liaise and provide support to Internal / External Auditors
? Assist in B-BBEE Verification process/audits
? Provide support and assist with ad hoc financial projects as required

? Skills requirements: -
? Minimum 4 years previous experience as an accountant or financial controller preferably in the insurance/ financial services sector.
? Accounting degree
? Professional qualification an added advantage e.g. CIMA, SAIPA
? Pastel
? MS Excel advantageous
? Clear criminal and ITC record
? SA citizen
? Ability to supervise junior staff
? Accurate, reliable and able to use your initiative
