Location: Woodstock, Cape Town

Duties:

Oversee accounting department
Manage 8 staff (Bookkeepers who provide bookkeeping / accounting services to 120 clients on a monthly basis)
The department has about 8 internal bookkeepers and about 4/5 bookkeepers who are working from home. The job would involve everything to do with managing these staff and their work and dealing with the clients, resolving problems, ensuring management accounts are communicated and billing etc. It will involve helping staff to manage their workflow, clients, targets, technical queries etc
The role involves doing accounting work for clients, discussing management reports with clients, clearing queries and billing the clients. Basically ensuring a smooth operation from start to finish, with the result of satisfied and happy clients

The candidate should have strong accounting skills, ability to manage staff and liaise with clients. Work under tight time skills and deal with pressure.
Ensure that all tax and accounting deadlines are met for the clients within the accounting department
Review of client monthly management packs generated by the bookkeepers and present to clients where necessary
Allocate work within department and to our out-sourced bookkeepers, track work flow.
Authorise monthly client invoices and ensure that they are paid by clients (if not – find out reasons why)
Handle client relationships.
Sign off and approve accounting staff time sheets, querying and dealing with unproductive time,
Review unbilled time and non-billable time – follow up with staff where necessary
Ensure all billable time is billed
Ensure that accounting clients bills are paid and that debtors days does not go beyond certain amount in 90 days
Review monthly billing and ensure that accounting department reaches targets – follow up on staff not reaching targets

Salary:
R28k - R30k per month
