Job Title: Accounts Assistant- Capital
Location: Cullinan

Job Description:

This position requires an energetic and dynamic individual to support the all stakeholders in the provision of a high quality and professional cost management service, advice and guidance on a wide range of costing/financial issues. The incumbent will be responsible for contributing to the costing / financial objectives of the relevant departments, through optimizing and maintaining costing / financial systems. This includes timely and accurate management information, continual improved service to line managers, and execution of the various processing activities in the business unit, ensuring compliance with sound accounting and costing/financial practices.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Compile and maintain the fixed asset register including depreciation calculations
Ensure that appropriate reconciliations are prepared and reviewed in order to ensure correct recording of cost; expensed vs capitalized
Daily management of individual capital contracts – regarding costs incurred and progress made on each contract
Attend weekly capital meetings with external contractor to establish shortcomings and cost-saving opportunities
Determine weekly-monthly- annual cash flow requirements for all capital projects
Co-ordinate and compile monthly capital reports and presentations
Responsible to assist with the preparation and assistance of the auditing process
Analyse and interpret variance and cost reports; in order to evaluate actual performance against plans and the effects of external factors on cost
Ensure adherence to Safety, Health and Environmental programme goals and objectives
Ensure personal and co-workers adherence and compliance to Security and the Company’s SHE objectives
Required to work according to the Mine’s Code of Practice, and report any observations of this not being done

Minimum Requirements:

Matric / Grade 12
Diploma / Degree in Accounting
3 years’ experience in a computerised accounting environment
Working knowledge & application of generally accepted accounting practices
PC Literate in Microsoft Office and Windows System

Other Skills / Competencies:

Excellent telephonic, verbal and written communication skills across all levels within the organisation (official business language is English)
AccPac including AssetWare module and Project Job Costing
Independent, proactive thinker and have the ability to do own job planning
MS Office – Advanced excel skills will be beneficial
Experience in a Mining Environment will be an advantage
Ability to work to strict deadlines to produce work of a high standard, organise and prioritise workload effectively
Analysis and interpretation of information and strong numeracy skills
Assertiveness, conflict handling and problem-solving skills
High level of multi-skilling, flexibility and ability to work as part of a team, respect for confidentiality of information and files
Independent, self-motivated, proactive thinking, ability to do own job planning and function independently
