Consultant: Actuarial Reporting/Western Cape (Northern Suburbs)
* Assist the Chief Actuary with valuations in a financial services institution.
* Responsible for premium rates and all other statutory valuation work.
* Responsible for the activities of a department or a specific function or area e.g. supervision of actuarial staff, actuarial students and clerical staff.
* In pension fund industry would be appointed as Fund Evaluator with responsibility for checking fund calculations and doing complex presentations to clients.
* In a consulting environment would clarify client requirements and translate actuarial concepts into client-friendly terminology, meeting all reporting requirements.
* May also be involved in product development.
Role and output/Core Tasks
* Support the calculation of regulatory capital, value of guarantees and required capital (per product) used to determine capital allocations to the various businesses.
* Report to a senior qualified actuary with substantial experience (10+ years)
* Have regular interaction with senior management and have optional engagement with business to understand and communicate the impacts of any capital changes.
* Consult widely through Actuarial Reporting with respective product owners and senior management to align outcomes.
* Real time mentoring and various growth opportunities will be available.

* Solvency Assessment and Management (SAM) calculations for both the base case and Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) scenarios - Own Funds, Technical Provisions and Solvency Capital Requirement calculations
* Assistance with International Capital Standards (ICS) calculations and Reporting
* Continuous improvement and automation of existing SAM processes
* Ad-hoc SAM related investigations and tasks, including interacting with the wider business to resolve queries and respond to regulatory requests
* SAM and ORSA-related engagement and support to the solvency processes as well as other life licence entities within SPF
* Stochastic calculations and consolidation of Investment Guarantee reserves and assisting with model officialisations
* Assistance with Economic Scenario Generation calibration process
* Assistance with Required Capital calculations

Qualifications

• Good progress with actuarial studies. Preferably all CT’s and CA’s completed



Experience and skills

• Good understanding of insurance products

• SAM and ORSA valuations experience would be an advantage

• Sound knowledge of regulatory reporting requirements impacting the insurance industry

• Prophet experience will be an advantage

• Good verbal and written communication skills to manage relationships with business stakeholders

• Ability to work independently, take initiative and meet deadlines

• Strong analytical and conceptual thinking

• Good MS Office skills (Word, Excel)

• Knowledge seeking/learning orientation
