Position Title: Aftercare Assistant

Position Summary:
This position will participate in the smooth running of the Cliffview Aftercare Centre which will include the waiting class, the homework club and the holiday club to ensure the facilities provided create a “home away from home” atmosphere for all participating children and that these children are safe and stimulated during their time at the aftercare centre.
Essential Job Functions
1. Design and implement activities for the afterschool children
2. Participate in the feeding of all afterschool children
3. Participate in the supervision of the aftercarel children’s homework
4. Participate in a security strategy which will ensure the safety of all aftercare children
5. Develop and implement holiday care programmes
6. Increased service delivery and children/parent satisfaction
7. Create an atmosphere which provides stimulation for the children at the aftercare centre
8. Ad Hoc projects as needed
Essential Job Requirements:
EDUCATION
Minimum – Matric. Relevant Tertiary qualification preferable, First Aid Qualification
EXPERIENCE Minimum 2 years related experience
REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS Ability to work with children between the ages of 5 and 13. Ability to meet with parents as needed. Problem solving ability. Excellent verbal communication in English. Ability to implement aftercare programmes, policies and procedures. Good organizational ability. Good time management ability. Creative and patient.
REQUIRED PERSON COMPETANCIES Presentable, professional and confident. Diplomatic and tactful while remaining assertive. Ability to handle difficult situations. High level of integrity. Ability to work in a team. Well spoken with good communication and listening skills. Ability to liaise across all race groups and genders. Emotional maturity. Sense of urgency to get things done. Has drive and resilience. Ability to take accountability. High energy levels. Self starter. Flexible and innovative. Ability to multitask. Ability to work unsupervised.
