Preferred Qualifications and Experience

• National Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in a relevant agricultural field with extensive knowledge of vegetables production.
• Must be living in Pella or willing to relocate to Pella, however preference will be giving to local Pella residents.
• Extensive knowledge of the area and the surrounding areas is essential
• Experience as an agricultural advisor within the agriculture sector
• Knowledge and the understanding of Aquaponics or aquaculture farming will be an added advantage.
• SAQA facilitator, assessor and/ moderator or similar accreditation qualification would also be an added advantage.

Key Competencies and Abilities
• Demonstrated ability to successfully deliver training programmes to a wide variety of participants including community members.
• Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and to demonstrate high levels of initiative is essential.
• Fluency in English and Afrikaans is essential. Excellent oral and written communication skills in both languages as well as facilitation skills is a requirement.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office systems, including Word, Excel and Power Point, plus e-mail and internet are essential.
• Good leadership and management skills, including managing and prioritizing multiple tasks as well as a strong background in monitoring and evaluation systems.
• Experience working effectively with teams of diverse backgrounds.
• Proactive approach, exercise professional judgment, and make sound decisions.
• The ability to travel to Gauteng for training at the beginning of the project is essential.

Roles and Responsibilities

Roles and responsibilities for this position include but are not be limited to;
• Work closely with the Programme Manager for Adaptive Agriculture to develop and initiate training strategies.
• Facilitate training to beneficiaries on Aquaponics, vegetable production, and other agricultural related areas.
• Develop and distribute training and progress reports at agreed intervals.
• Provide support to Programme Manager on planning, implementation, monitoring of all the programme activities
• Collecting data and compiling monthly reports
• Monitor all the agricultural activities within the project
• Monitor progress on the implementation of the agriculture related programme activities in relation to work plans and timelines

Term of Position

This is a one-year full time fixed contract position.
