Airfreight Manager - Edenvale

A position for an experienced Airfreight Manager has become available.

This  well established  & independently owned Logistics Company works exclusively in the interest of their clients and base their service levels on their client’s demands in order to achieve overall successful relationships with clients, suppliers and employees. Our client has offices in all of the major port cities and their Head Office is based in Edenvale Gauteng.

Minimum requirements

  • Matric or equivalent qualification

  • Minimum of 5 years working experience within a supervisory/management capacity

  • Minimum of 10 years working experience within the clearing and forwarding Industry

  • Strong overall knowledge and experience pertaining Airfreight practices

  • MS Office Suite (Especially MS Excel)

  • Knowledge of Cargowise will be an advantage

  • Knowledge of ISO Standards

  • Proven organisational and planning skills

  • Strong problem solving abilities

  • Effective time management ability and able to work under pressure towards strict deadlines

  • Excellent follow-up, feedback & high operational management ability

  • Strong administration & interpersonal  skills

  • High service orientation & able to pay high levels of attention to detail

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Strong decision making ability and negotiation skills

  • Strong leadership skills, the ability to delegate and manage conflict

  • Exude confidence on all levels of communication

  • Able to work after hours and weekends if/when so required

  • Valid driver’s licence and own reliable transport

 Main duties will include but not be limited to the following KPA‘s

  • Oversee  & manage all areas of Import and Export Control Processes & Procedures

  • Estimates on occasions

  • Budgeting

  • Staff management

  • Monthly management and statistical reporting

  • Account reconciliations

  • Quality assurance

  • Maintain and establish good customer and service provider relationships

  • Conduct regular information flow meetings

  • Drive & Communicate New Business development opportunities to Sales Department

  • Troubleshoot recurring operational problems

  • Monitor the profitability of shipments

  • Report directly to the branch manager
