Role:AIX Systems Engineer to assist the Team Lead in the Unix Team rolling out new AIX systems, maintaining, upgrading, replacing, and improving the long-term performance of the existing systems
You Need:- Grade 12 + AIX System Administration Certification
- PowerHA(HACMP) AIX Security Network Admin & Performance good to have
- Extensive AIX / core AIX roles & features/ printer queues
- Proven history of incident response, diagnostic activities, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Corrective Action Plans, & advanced troubleshooting / PowerHA & Documenting environment & processes. TSAM good to have
- AIX Server fundamentals & concepts
- Volume groups, Logical volumes, mirror pools & RAID levels
- Remote file synchronization
- VIOS
- Network & storage principles
- IBM hardware knowledge
- HMC knowledge
- TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS protocols, firewall, load-balancing technologies & firewalls.
- Virtual environs eg PowerKVM & PowerVM
- Power Server architecture design & implementation
- Scripting (Bash or Korn Shell) to automate tasks.
- Load balancing technologies & large-scale server farms.
- Virtual environs PowerKVM & PowerVM
To Do:Implement, administer & maintain AIX Unix Servers:
- Provide level 3 support for AIX Servers.
- Resolve Incidents & fulfil Service Requests using a service management ticket queue & Change Management processes.
- Install, configure & upgrade new & existing AIX servers (physical/LPAR/VIOS) along with other supporting AIX products / technologies & related third party applications.
- Ensure Enterprise AIX server standards are met & maintained.
- Apply patches to the AIX servers (physical/LPAR/VIOS) on a regular basis.
- Configure system security & enforcement of system access policies.
- Responsible for overall health, high availability, maintenance, & documentation of AIX Servers.
- Problem analysis & implementation of corrective actions on new & existing AIX servers.
- Provide after-hours support on a rotating On-Call basis
Implement, administer & support core AIX roles & features such as:printer queues, HA Clustering, File & Storage Services, user account administration, upgrades & migrations:
- Build, test, reconfigure & troubleshoot front & backend printer queues
- Manage & support all aspects of HA clustering.
- Manage NFS3&4 shares
- User, group & elevated account administration.
- Plan & deploy regular upgrade cycles in order to stay up to date with latest SP & TL releases.
Administer & maintain all services related to & ensure maximum uptime of client’s Distribution Centres:
- Provide high level support to the DC Support team
- Provide level 3 support directly to the DC's
- Resolve Incidents & fulfil Service Requests using a service management ticket queue & Change Management processes
- Install, configure & manage core AIX OS features on the DC servers.
- Install, upgrade & configure applications in DC AIX environment.
- Create & maintain Failover Clusters supporting Informix Databases, file shares & applicable applications.

dminister & maintain all services related to & ensure maximum uptime of all SAP AIX systems & database servers:
- Provide high level OS support to the SAP Basis team
- Resolve Incidents & fulfil Service Requests using a service management ticket queue & Change Management processes
- Install, configure & manage core AIX OS features on SAP Unix servers.
- Install, upgrade & configure applications within the SAP AIX environment.
- Create & maintain Failover Clusters supporting DB2 Databases, file shares & applicable applications.
I
mplement & assist with Disaster recovery management, procedures & documentation:
- Keep DR environment in sync with production environment.
- Assist with DR trials by recovery of AIX systems & applications.
- Assist with creation of DR plan & recovery procedures for AIX systems & applications.
- Assist with creation of DR documentation for AIX systems & applications.
- Test & document successful recovery of backed up systems onto DR Hardware
