SOFTWARE QUALITY ENGINEER
The Software Quality Engineer performs functional and automated tests using test scripts and/or test suites. The SQE is proficient in blackbox, whitebox and regression testing requiring no purpose supervision. An element of guidance and mentorship of less experienced team members is expected. Required to drive test process and strategy defined by the QA Manager.
Responsibilities
• Extract critical application functional requirements and User Scenarios to add to the Regression Test Plan and/or Smoke Test Plan
• Inform QA Manager, Software Development Manager and Scrum Team of delays in testing activities or problems arising from variances
• Investigates new ways to improve the current test processes with the QA Manager
• Track test progress within the team by extracting reports in Team Foundation Server and communicating progress to Scrum Team
• Take ownership of test within the Scrum Team
• Extract Test Plan status report in Regression (Staging) and identify the test scenarios with status Blocked and Fail and report to QA Manager and Scrum Team
Skills & Knowledge
• In depth understanding of testing methodologies, standards, SDLC and development methodologies
• Ability to write complex SQL queries
• Good understanding of Test Case Management Tools, in particular, Microsoft Test Manager.
• Excercises independent judgement after considering alternatives
• Coordinates own tasks and less senior QA team members to meet project schedules
Minimum qualifications
• National Diploma (NDIP): Information Technology or Bachelor of Science Degree or 3 years IT work experience
• International ISTQB Foundation Certification in Testing
• ISTQB Advanced Test Analyst or ISTQB Advanced Technical Test Analyst
• Advantageous: Certified Agile Tester
• Minimum 5 years Test Experience including Mobile QA Testing experience

Preferred Skills and Behaviours
• Basic knowledge of HTTP, CSS and HTTP Web Servers
• Basic understanding of test automation tools
• Basic understanding of Automation Frameworks
• Good understanding of Continuous Integration Tools & Software
• Broad understanding of service layer protocols including testing the API
• Basic knowledge of JavaScript, JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) and SOAP & REST services
