The role is for an experienced application support analyst within the Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) production support team based in South Africa. The team is responsible for the first line production support of global and locally developed application across various lines of businesses.

This role is part of the Execution Services Production Management team. The Execution Services technology suite underpins the Equities and FX Electronic Trading businesses, and Sales & Trading businesses. It is complex in nature and requires very strong technical skills to successfully support the proprietary technology. The key success criteria are day-to-day support of order routing / risk / market data problems, daily application releases, management of crisis events, and compliance with the eTrading Controls agenda and Market Access regulatory requirements.

Candidates will need to have strong communication and problem management skills along with experience in supporting Linux & Wintel based platforms to be able to effectively diagnose production issues.

Education / Qualifications:
Must possess at least a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or Technology equivalent.

Technical skills
• 5+ years experience in application and database production support in financial services industry.
• Very strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Excellent incident management skills with an ability to operate under pressure and co-ordinate resources effectively, identifying a path to resolution.
• Excellent knowledge of SQL and stored procedures (experience with Sybase, Oracle, MS SQL databases)
• Excellent knowledge of UNIX (experience with Linux essential)
• Strong Shell , Python scripting skills
• Ability to prioritise work load, multi task and react quickly to meet business expectations.
• Strong working knowledge of real time monitoring systems (ITRS)
• Financial Product knowledge and JSE products experience would be advantageous
