Area Logistics Manager
R600 000 per annum excluding bonuses
Durban North, Kwa-Zulu Natal
Permanent Management Level within FMCG industry

Effectively & efficiently manage the entire logistics functions within the region aligned with the route to market strategy which will further enable improved customer service. Partner with commercial and other cross functional teams to develop strategies to enable and support new business opportunities within the region.

The region includes the full KZN area:

• Plan, organise and manage the responsibilities of the Area Logistics Leadership Team within a complex region whilst remaining within organisational requirements
• Create a regional budget and monitor spending to ensure that expenses are consistent with approved budgets
• Recommend optimal transportation vehicles, routing and equipment to ensure an efficient transportation department
• Ensure increased focus on secondary distribution and utilize supporting systems to ensure heightened efficiency in both time and resource utilization.
• Direct logistics operations to ensure achievement of cost, productivity, accuracy and efficiency objectives.
• Analyse the financial impact of proposed transportation changes such as routing, shipping, product volumes or suppliers
• Analyse expenditures, operating KPI’s and other financial information in order to develop & apply saving structures
• Plan and implement warehouse and transportation flow management systems to meet efficiency requirements
• Direct and coordinate through cross function intervention, activities within primary and secondary logistics environment in order to obtain optimal use of equipment, facilities and human resources.
• Train and support regional site managers and personnel in roles and responsibilities regarding regional logistics strategies and efficiencies
• Ensure at operational level the maintenance of metrics, reports and efficiencies to support the broader national logistics and department
• Execute the regional requirements in relation to internal administrative, customised transportation and warehousing reporting and measurement
• Direct regional logistics operation to ensure achievement of cost, productivity, accuracy and efficiency objectives
• Collaborate with other departments to integrate logistics with business systems or processes such as sales, order management, accounting and shipping

Minimal Requirements:
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Logistics Managent
• A B.Com degree or Logistics Diploma
• Willingness to work long hours and under pressure
• Experience utilizing the Planning tool called Roadshow is an advantage
• Strong communication skills, both written and oral
• Computer Literacy with working knowledge of Integrated Warehouse & Transport Optimisation Management Systems
• Knowledge of BPCS will be an advantage
• Must have FMCG experience, preference given to cold-storage experience
