Our client a family-owned producer, packer, distributor and exporter of high-grade fresh fruit in the Northern Suburbs is looking for an Assistant Accountant. The following will be beneficial; Knowledge of Tax and calculation thereof and Knowledge of NAV.

REQUIRMENTS:

Relevant tertiary education (suitable degree/diploma with 3 – 5 years working experience)

General accounting and bookkeeping experience 

Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel) & accounting package 

Experience in VAT, fixed assets & inventory control

Must be prepare to work as a team & multi-tasking

Valid driver’s license

Be willing to travel to all units once a month

KEY DUTIES:

Fixed assets

Maintain and update fixed asset register

Maintain and update capex schedule
 
Inventory control

Inventory purchases and monitoring distribution between locations

Physical stock take

Support in stock management in packaging runs
 
Statutory returns

VAT 201 and diesel rebate submissions

VAT recons and following up on claims

New VAT registrations

Obtain tax clearance certificates

EMP501 returns and the calculations thereof
 

Bookkeeping up to trial balance
 
Ad hoc duties based on operational requirements
