Assistant Financial Manager

R500K to R550K per annum
Possibility of 2x annual bonuses – 1st up to 33% of salary and 2nd up to 45% of salary with additional perks such as discounts on hotels etc

• The main responsibilities of the job include consolidating financial information from all operations, and providing accurate and timeous financial results and analysis for local and Group reporting purposes.
• The successful candidate must be a team player & therefore have good interpersonal skills in order to liaise with members in the Financial Department who report to the Group Financial Manager & Financial Director.

POSITION DETAILS
• To consolidate financial information from all operations, and then provide accurate and timeous financial results and analysis for local and Group reporting purposes
• Passionate about financial management & analytical, with an eye for detail
• Technically up to date with IFRS & sound working knowledge of taxation & an expert on consolidations
• Skilled communicator – both verbal & written at all levels
• Have entrepreneurial & sound business skills
• Ability to carry out various ad hoc duties as required from time to time
• Will entail looking after operational properties & may travel from time to time locally within South Africa
• Able to work proficiently in Microsoft Excel, Word & comfortable with consolidation, accounting systems & processes
• Able to critically evaluate business process & implement efficient business processes to streamline reporting, whilst maintaining meticulous levels of accuracy
• Experienced in benchmarking, formulation of accounting policies, able to provide technical input & assistance (emerging issues re IFRS, Tax, & Companies Act etc.)
• Skilled at performing financial reviews & analysis
• Able to present findings of analysis & reviews
• Skilled at providing support & maintain service levels to all internal stakeholders
• Able to liaise with external & internal audit regarding all aspects of the audit process
• Able to contribute at exceptional levels as a member of the reporting team, be a key role player within the team
EDUCATION (FORMAL QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED) & EXPERIENCE
• CA (SA) with preferably 1 to 2 years post article experience – both board exams must have been passed on 1st attempt

POSITION DESCRIPTION
• Prepare monthly management accounts and to report the financial results of the company to management in the format specified - Responsibility for the timely, efficient and accurate delivery of monthly reporting mediums of the group’s consolidated financial results, including management accounts, management reports and presentation slides. Monitor actual performance against approved business plans and investigate significant variances;
• Prepare consolidated monthly packs and perform monthly review and reporting of actual results on Group level and provide variance analysis per expected standards and agreed deadlines/timeframes
• Manage and consolidate the Central Services’ and operating divisions’ forecast and budget process
• Liaise with the Business Unit (BU) accountants in obtaining information for consolidation of packs, Exco and Board reports - Preparation of the consolidated quarterly and annual budgets/forecasts, compilation of attendant reports to management/board and presentation slides
• Responsible for daily and half yearly treasury reporting function for the Group
• Lead the Business Performance System Implementation team, assimilated to implement a new computerized financial/management accounting & reporting system
• Planning and building financial templates to be used across the company
• Responsible for the internal recharges, i.e. allocating charges to the divisions and subsidiaries
• Responsible for the recovery of all inter-Group charges
• Invoice inter-Group charges to other legal entities, e.g. IP, etc.
• Prepare and control sales incentive programs to ensure achievement of quarterly targets.
• Involvement with auditors on reporting queries
• Involvement in future development phases of financial management system
• Prepare and manage the fixed asset register reconciliation
• Ad-hoc financial projects

COMPETENCIES (SKILLS & BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES)
• Excellent inter-personal and communication skills, with strong computerized report writing ability;
• Excellent technical and analytical skills with attention to detail;
• Excellent planning, coordination and organising skills; and
• Proficiency with BPC reporting tool is advantageous
• Customer service and relationship management skills with influencing ability
• Self starter with the ability to function under pressure yet to a high level of numeracy and accuracy;
• Professional, ability to be self motivated, organised and flexible.
