Kendrick Recruitment is now recruiting for an Assistant Head Guide for a luxury lodge situated in the Kruger National Park. The Assistant Head Guide is responsible for conducting guided safari experiences at the lodge that are unique and in line with lodges standards. In addition you will be required to assist the Head Guide with the overall management of the guiding department and is accountable to the Head Guide. The Assistant Head Guide is responsible for their own continuous education and that of their tracker, thereby ensuring the guests have an exceptional wildlife experience. He/She also assists in ensuring that game drive vehicles and related equipment are well-maintained and cared for at all times. The Assistant Head Guide plays a critical role in ensuring that there is continuous communication with the Head Guide and lodge management in terms of all guest and guiding requirements.The Assistant Head Guide takes on the role of the Head Guide, during the Head Guide’s absences from the lodge, and operates according to instruction contained in the written handover document from the Head Guide. When the Head Guide return from leave, he/she must be provided with a comprehensive handover document prepared by the Assistant Head Guide.Scope of workEnsures the highest quality of game experience for the guests.Hosts guests.Shows an exceptional appreciation and sensitivity to the environment at all times.Ensures that guest and staff safety is always a priority.Communicates with Front of House staff to ensure the best possible experience for guests.Conscientious maintenance and care of vehicles and related equipment.Carries out administration duties timeously and effectively.Undertakes a process of continuous education of self and other members of staff.Assisting the head guide with the management of the guiding team.Achieves service excellence though Teamwork.Applicants needs to have:A minimum of two years’ work experience as a field guide in a similar 5* lodge environmentA level 2 FGASA qualification or higher with theory and practical completedRegistered with DEAT and THETA in terms of improving his/her qualificationsPassed the Kruger National Park rifle assessment as well as the trails guide examinationTrails guide certificateValid first aid certificateSASSETA CertificatesA valid South African Code 8 Driver’s license and PDPExcellent communication and people handling skillsAn inherent passion for observing, sharing and learning about wildlifeFlexible in that he/she is willing to change plans on the spur of the moment in the interest of guestsConfident but humbleOrganizational skills – displaying attention to detail and time managementLeadership ability, particularly as regards assisting staff to operate to maximum effectivenessThe potential to progress into a Head Guide positionPackage:Cost to Company Package of R12,000 – R17,000 per monthLive in accommodationMeals providedUniform providedTo apply please send your CV and references through to us today… Good Luck!
