Higher Educational Institute is seeking an Assistant Librarian to perform the following:

Experience:
Minimum of 1 year in assistant librarian experience in a small to medium sized facility within an education environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

User Education
? Trains students on how to use library databases continuously to enable them to research and access information required
? Contributes to bi-annual and walk in presentations as joint presenter for Student Information Literacy sessions

Librarian Support
? Drives The Independent Institute of Education library policies and procedures and ensures adherence to policies
? Supports the Librarian in training the Library Student Assistants
? Assists students and lecturers with research
? Provides guidance to students on academic writing
? Highlights the relevant journal articles, newspapers received
? Assists student with access and passwords on tuition
? Provides guidance to students on academic writing
? Facilitates inter-library loans to enable availability of resources to support students and lecturers
? Co-ordinates day to day book loans of students and lecturers
? Updates new books on InMagic system

Library Marketing and Maintenance

Designs posters to market library resources on the campus
Arranges monthly campus displays according to the monthly calendar
Markets teaching and learning resources to lecturers continuously
Presents information about teaching and learning resources and information sessions for lecturers

Qualification:
Minimum of Advanced Diploma/ Bachelor's Degree in Library and Information Science. Must have professional registration with LIASA
