Job Description:

Planning, scheduling and report back on the various activities
The planting and staking of trees
Pruning of trees
Fertilizing of trees and special programmes
Pest and disease control
General maintenance in the nurseries
Stock control and care of equipment
Dealing with staff matters
Any other tasks which may be necessary

Qualifications:

The candidate must have a minimum qualification of ND Horticulture or equivalent.
The candidate must have a back ground in the horticultural industry, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in plant production and maintenance of nursery stock (plants/ trees).
The candidate must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the competent management of several work teams and needs to provide the employer with references or documentation to prove his competence.
A fair knowledge of trees & tree species.
A real passion for trees.
Practical knowledge and experience in the installation & maintenance of irrigation & irrigation systems.
The candidate must be prepared to work afterhours and over weekends to manage any problems if they should arise.
The candidate must have a Valid driver’s licence.
The candidate must be able to work and communicate effectively with people on different levels in the company structure.
The candidate must be self-motivated, driven and dependable.
Xhosa as a 3rd language will be an advantage.
A C1 drivers licence will be an advantage.
