A leading firm of consulting engineers is looking for a Assistant Resident Engineer / Materials Technician to be based in KZN on contract basis. Minimum Requirements · 20 years experience OR · National Diploma + 10 years experience OR · Registration as Pr Tech with ECSA + 5 years experience · 10 years major road experience on SANRAL projects as Assistant Resident Engineer or Senior Materials Technician · Must have experience in asphalt paving and seal work · Strong knowledge of all test methods per TMH1 · Strong knowledge of all SANRAL acceptance procedures Key Responsibility Areas The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to: · Manage the Quality Control aspects of the construction process · Manage the acceptance control processes of Lot submissions · Manage the site laboratory and small support staff · Monitor operation of site laboratory and report to the RE on proposed improvements · Review materials testing results for acceptance purposes · Maintain acceptance control records as per standard procedures · Auditing of acceptance control and correlation testing · Undertake measurement verification · Maintain up to date materials as-built records for incorporation to the Contract Report · Visual inspection of Lot Submissions · Monitoring progress against programme
