Job Purpose:
The focus of this role is to assist in ensuring that the Weylandts shopping experience is further enhanced in all aspects of on-going visual merchandising. Responsibilities include ensuring stock is correctly merchandised and implementing floor plans and displays. The ability to design, decorate and use personal initiative is a requirement.
This position reports to the Visual Merchandiser for day-to- day responsibilities and to the Store Manager for performance appraisals/ time off etc.

Main accountabilities:
Ensure a high standard of visual merchandising in line with the company’s vision and brand identity in the respective store.
Consistently achieve the on-going installation and dressing of the required merchandising plan within the prescribed time frame which will involve working with the basement team and will include some lifting, carrying etc.
Ensure on-going maintaining/updating of the furniture display settings and homeware shelving/tables as per last floor/setting changes and/or directives from Head office. This requires regular communication with the design team.
Ensure aggressive replenishment of homeware/ furniture. Constantly checking stock levels of homeware in cage and not on the shop floor to ensure items are urgently replaced
Merchandising monthly promotional settings according to the company’s design directives.
Be aware of new product arrivals and lines to be discontinued and plan for this in advance with Head office. Maintain superior product knowledge.
Ensure that a high standard of housekeeping is maintained in store, working with store manager and other store employees
Doing floor walks 3 times a day
Assisting in receiving, unpacking and checking in of homeware when relevant basement team member not available or high stock volumes are received.
Ensure required photos of shelving/settings are sent timeously and without exception to the merchandising department.
Assist customers and maintain a professional approach, selling when required.
Assist with receiving and processing stock, advising where more stock is required from Homeware
Ensure updated and precise price displays and that all items are marked and priced correctly.

Minimum Requirements:
A minimum of Grade 12 with a National Diploma in Interior Décor
2 year's working experience in a similar role/brand
The Assistant Visual Merchandiser is an integral part of the company’s overall performance; in terms of image, the shopping experience, perception and brand equity - thus the incumbent is required to have a good eye for homeware and demonstrate a thorough understanding and knowledge of the company and merchandising policies and process and how a retail outlet store operations
Excellent administration skills are essential as well as solid product knowledge and passion for Weylandts furniture and homeware.

The incumbent will able to demonstrate a hands-on, can-do attitude, pro-active ability. He or she must take responsibility for their work, be a team player, be accurate and have above average customer relation skills. He/she must also be able to work well under pressure, do floor and other key tasks on an on-going basis, and be able to add value to the Weylandts shopping experience. They must be physically fit as this position requires lifting and shelf replenishment.
