ASSOCIATE TECHNICAL CONSULTANT

 
JOB SUMMARY:

Ensures new and existing ACI customers receive a first class delivery service in accordance with customer expectations and contractual agreements. Primarily responsible for the identification/development of solutions for customers using company products, outsourced solutions and/or proprietary tools/techniques implemented by others. Defines customer needs and develops a plan and proposal for delivery of the project. Viewed by customers as a consultant. Performance is typically evaluated based on utilization, (i.e., billable hours).

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Analyzes client’s business needs and recommends appropriate information technology solutions utilizing ACI’s methodologies. Conducts analysis of corporate objectives, business functions and processes. Has limited technical expertise in one or several business or industry specializations.

Works with others on the project delivery team to solve product related issues and recommend workaround solutions. Communicates with Technical Consultants and project managers on a regular basis providing status updates and any other information relevant to the ACI business.

Supports the regional/product’s business development and sales support efforts for a particular territory, industry or account.

Assists customer with their implementation efforts as necessary to ensure successful product adoption.

Assists in taking appropriate action for possible mitigation actions and or contingencies. Must learn to identify information needed to clarify a risk or business situation, seeking that information from appropriate sources and use skillful questioning to draw out the information.

Perform other duties as assigned.

 

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems/Management or equivalent experience.
  • 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Driver's license and own transport.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Operating systems and networking
  • Microsoft Windows server environments and networking. AIX / Linux knowledge is an advantage.
  • OS command line utilities and scripting.
  • TCP/IP. Network tracing / sniffing experience is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of routers and firewalls.
  • Using tools like Windows Performance Monitor.
Hardware
  • Good knowledge of different hardware platforms and server technologies like RAID and SANs.
  • Exposure to 24/7/365 or “99.999%” uptime environments an advantage.
Databases
  • Knowledge of SQL Server 2000 and 2005 database administration. DB2 knowledge is an advantage.
  • T-SQL scripting: querying and updating databases.
  • Using tools like SQL Profiler.
Development
  • Any development experience is an advantage (Java knowledge in particular).
Environment and communication
  • Strong written and spoken skills are essential as this is a customer facing role.
  • Experience in report writing and other written deliverables.
  • Experience in application support.
  • Experience in a strict SLA environment.
  • Exposure to corporate IT and big business an advantage.
