JOB DESCRIPTION
An exciting opportunity for an Inspector has become available at the statutory body that controls part of the accountancy profession involved with the public accountancy in South Africa. The role reports directly to the Director: Inspections.
JOB SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
CA (SA) qualification and Registered Auditor (RA), with post qualification experience in quality control and performing pre- and post-issuance reviews. (NON-NEGOTIABLE)
Experience with listed entities is advantageous.
Minimum of 3 years post article experience within Audit.
Candidates must have completed articles at the BIG 4 audit firms
Excellent knowledge of latest professional standards ISAs, IAS, IFRS, IFRS for SME’s and pronouncements.
In depth knowledge of ISQC 1
Keen interest in auditing and the technical aspects of auditing
Good interpersonal skills and ability to maintain high level of confidentiality
Ability to cope with confrontational situations
Ability to meet tight deadlines
Good report writing skills and communications skills
Ability to work in a structured work environment with strong time management skills
Ability to think out of the box and consider how an error identified can impact the rest of the AFS.
Highly ethical and professional
Ability to give and accept constructive criticism
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Responsible for inspecting audit engagements and firms’ quality control policies and procedures, discussing findings, and preparing reports.
Responsible for keeping up to date with latest accounting and auditing standards and practical implementation thereof
WORK CONDITIONS
Although based in JHB it is an Out of office job. Inspections are mostly performed at the premises of auditors. Due to the nature of the job, the incumbent will have to travel away from home.
