Job Title: Auto Electrician
Location: Cullinan

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be required to do auto-electrical repairs, preventative maintenance, rewiring and fault finding on electrical circuits and components of the trackless fleet according to sound engineering practice and equipment specifications.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Responsible for daily inspection of mining equipment and the maintenance of drill rigs.
Investigate, diagnose and perform trade related maintenance and repair of equipment and machinery
Performs inspections in accordance with the Mine Health and Safety Act regulations, manufacturing and Company standards.
Report all defects and breakdowns on equipment and machinery to the foreman.
Develop, modify, construct and install related equipment required for the safe operation in area of responsibility.
Ensure availability of machinery.
Identify spares requirements and order according to departmental procedure.
Communicate with clients and supervisors to inform on maintenance activities performed and availability of equipment.
Supervision of maintenance crewman.
Work according to the Mine’s Code of Practice, and report any observations of this not being done.
Ensure personal and co-workers’ adherence and compliance to Security and Company’s SHE objectives
Work overtime, do standby and be available for call-outs should the need arise.

Minimum Requirements:

Grade 12/N3
Qualified Auto-Electrician with Trade Certificate at recognized/accredited institution – Section 13 preferable
5 years post trade test experience as an Auto Electrician
Valid Driver’s License (EB)
Previous experience in underground engineering projects is essential

Other Skills/Competencies:

Sound verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills in English
Pass a Vienna Assessment Level 2 (test will be conducted on mine)
Independent, self-motivated, proactive thinking and have the ability to do own job planning
High level of multi-skilling

Preference will be given to suitable candidates from the designated groups in line with the Company’s Employment Equity Policy and Plan and internal candidates.
Pre-screening, profile testing, on mine assessments, medical and security clearance form part of the recruitment and selection process.
Short listed candidates will be required to attend a panel interview.
