PRODUCTION CNC SETTER, ROSSLYN, R60 PER HOUR + BEN = CV
• Machine Setter or related qualification will be an advantage
• Advanced CNC setting and programming courses
• Must have a minimum of 10 years CNC setting and programming experience in a production environment. (Mazatrol, ISO, Fanuc)
• Must be able read engineering drawings and understand datum positions and tolerancing
• Excellent process, machine and tooling knowledge related to CNC machines.
• Must be able to work accurate, precise and methodical to ensure nominal settings
• Must be able to troubleshoot and do problem solving
• Team-player
• Be able to use measuring equipment, e.g. vernier, dial gauges, shadow graph, micrometer

Aim of the Position:

• Minimise downtime of all CNC machines (setting and tool changes)
• Ensure an optimised process run to achieve planned cycle times at set QA quality standards
• Ensure an optimised tool change and set up of production CNC machines
• Assist Production Engineer to optimise machining cycle times
• Assist with the Sample manufacture for new products.
• Ensure product conformity via frequent quality checks on the lines.
• Assist Production Engineer with tool trials.
• Conduct an efficient, time optimised tool change / adjustment and co-ordinate the set up of new processes according to the approved first off samples, work instructions and product control plans.
• Conduct necessary process setups or adjustments to CNC machines, or facilitate set-ups as necessary to achieve optimum change-over and setting times.
• Ensure the shortest possible down time of machines and production cells during set up and tool changes. Ensure unused tooling is correctly stored when not in use. Plan tool changes in advance and complete change-over checklist to ensure readiness.
• Submit First-off sample to QC for analysis when any changes are conducted to the process. Conduct cycle time studies on PV or CNC machines as applicable to confirm machine is running to hourly output targets.
• Use appropriate measuring equipment (gauges, shadow graph and vernier) to conduct frequent checks to ensure process is running to specification.
• Troubleshoot on CNC process problems and tooling related failures and ensure product is produced to relevant process control plan requirements.
• Recommend improvements to tooling to improve tool life.
• Keep all hand tools available and fully operational at all times
• Check and ensure the availability of capable functioning tooling to production, conduct minor tooling maintenance, repair and check availability of spare parts in liaison with the tool-room department and the consumable store.
• Record and report set up, tool change and process problems and all related downtimes to the Production Co-ordinator, Teamleader, Production Engineer or Process Engineer.
• Ensure a clean and safe working environment at your workplaces at all times. Maintain house-keeping standards in areas of responsibility.
• Ensure flexibility to assist in other areas of work/function if required.
