uties and responsibilities

To obtain a good understanding of the CMS interface and processes and procedures in the Finance department.
To obtain a good understanding of the CMS database including the Triggers, Views, Stored Procedures and SQL Jobs.
Provides technical and functional development of reporting solutions and data analysis using:
Microsoft SQL programming and SQL Server Reporting Services
Utilizing Select, If, While, Case, Union and other statements for querying data
Creating procedures, including recursive procedures
Good knowledge of editing statements such as Update, Delete and Insert
Microsoft SQL Server
Use of the Import and Export Utility
Connecting to Local servers
Connecting to Linked Servers
Advanced Excel
Extensive use and nesting of logical functions such as IF, IFERROR, OR and AND
Experience with Pivot Tables including filters, slicers and calculated members
Extensive use of lookup functions such as VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, MATCH and INDEX
Using MS Query and SQL to obtain information from other Data Sources
PowerPivot for Excel
Experience connecting to various Data Sources including, text, excel and SQL Databases
Creating Perspectives
Creating measures (both implicit and explicit)
Using MDX and DAX formulae such as FILTER, DISTINCT and SUMX
Querying the Data in Excel using Pivot Tables and Cube functions
To develop standard reports and functional dashboards based on the Finance department’s requirements.
To develop business intelligence models that can be used to generate both standard and ad-hoc reports.
Ensures BI environment is optimized to address business requirements by diagnosing and repairing user and performance issues, and testing, monitoring and tuning software.
Ensure integrity and accuracy of Financial Information in relation to accounting.
Liaise with COOP and the Finance department in order to resolve system issues around bad data governance.
Provides overall guidance for data quality and financial reporting.
Identify and resolve data reporting issues in a timely fashion.
Perform quality assurance checks on new or enhanced reports.
Recommend improvements to provide optimum reporting solutions.
Stay updated with business operations and business intelligence processes.
Work closely with the Software Development Manager and other members of the team on IT projects.
Communicate with the Software Development Manager with efficiency and accuracy on any issues, progress and /or delays.

Qualification/s

Matric/National diploma or equivalent qualification.
A minimum of three years experience with requirements/process analysis, conceptual and detailed design, BI report development, testing, training, change management, and support methodologies.
A minimum of three years SQL Programming and Advanced Excel experience.A strong financial background with experience having worked on financial systems.
Familiarity with software development methodologies.
Experience delivering and/or authoring technical training.
