Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the manufacturing and building of steel structures, plate and piping in accordance with sound engineering practices and equipment specifications.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Construct and fabricate steelwork in a mining underground environment.
Maintain winders and rock flow equipment.
Perform inspections in accordance with Mine Health and Safety Act, manufacturing and Company standards.
Motivate and maintain good relationships with operational personnel.
Assign corrective measures and follow-up on outstanding / overdue actions.
Ensure compliance with Company policies and procedures.
Plan and manage the training and development of personnel.
Must be prepared to work outside normal working hours, shifts, standby and overtime if required to do so.

Minimum Requirements:

Grade 10 / NATED1 / NCV Level 1
Grade 12 / NATED3 / NCV Level 3 – will be an advantage
Boilermaker Trade Test Certificate through a recognized Apprenticeship
3 to 4 years’ post apprenticeship experience preferable
Valid driver’s license - EB

Other Skills/Competencies:

Good written and verbal communication skills in English
Sound knowledge of mining and metallurgy diamond processes
Ability to lead and guide team

Preference will be given to suitable candidates from the designated groups in line with the Company’s Employment Equity Policy and Plan and internal candidates.
Pre-screening, profile testing, on mine assessments, medical and security clearance form part of the recruitment and selection process. Short listed candidates will be required to attend a panel interview. Employment of the successful candidate is subject to the aforementioned criteria.
