Job purpose:
Manage the branch in a manner which meets the company’s objectives, ensures operational efficiency, maximises profits, grows the operation, introduces continuous improvement into the business and meets customer requirements. This involves overseeing all areas and managing of staff within the branch, administration, warehouses, hub and transport functions.

Key responsibilities
• Ensure that the warehousing, hub and transport functions are operating correctly and are delivering the service levels as required by the client base.
• Strictly control all costs and expenditures involved in operating the branch.
• Monitor, manage and report on customer service levels and ensure that customer KPI targets are met.
• Ensure complete and accurate billing for all the services provided by the branch.
• Implement policies and procedures to ensure that the work of all staff within the operation is properly controlled and that staff productivity is at the correct level.
• Improve productivity, reduce overtime and ensure that staff is motivated and productive; regular evaluation and performance appraisals to be conducted with staff.
• Ensure that stock is properly controlled and that the condition and quantity of the stock is maintained and the location and description of the stock is known at all times.
• Ensure that operations meetings are conducted where planning can take place, performance can be monitored and all problems and inefficiencies are addressed and resolved.
• Communicate the expectations, policies and procedures, strategy and priorities of the Company to all staff working at the branch.
• Implement and maintain the Quality Management System.
• Ensure that the operations for new client take ons are properly prepared for and implemented.
• Implement policies and procedures to ensure that housekeeping, pest control and hygiene standards are maintained within the branch at all times.
• Ensure management reports are completed accurately and communicated to the respective clients, management and directors and that all discrepancies from agreed upon standards are identified and resolved.
• Planning of resources to meet customer requirements.
• Ensure that the branch facilities and premises are properly maintained.
• Ensure that the facility, stock and assets are adequately secured and that all loss control and security policies and procedures are implemented.
• Ensure that all branch related administration is carried out correctly.
• Manage the finances of the branch in order to achieve maximum profitability and company growth, manage budgets effectively and provide financial reports monthly.
• Maintain relationships with clients and maintain customer satisfaction.
• Resolve customer queries timeously and communicate feedback timeously.
• Ensure that the distribution WIP report is maintained, waybill aging is monitored and that all Proof of Delivery documents (PODs) are controlled and processed.
• Ensure that stock takes are carried out correctly and effectively and that stock take results are properly communicated.
• Ensure that claims due to stock damage and loss are kept to an absolute minimum and implement procedures for the complete identification and investigation of claims.

Minimum requirements:
• Matric
• 5 years’ Management experience in the logistics / warehouse industry
• Logistics related certificate / diploma / degree

• Financial principles, budgets, P&L, G&Ls, and invoicing
• HR and IR regulations, policies, processes and procedures
• Occupational Health and Safety Act and the requirements thereof
