The main aim of the position is to manage the daily operation of the branch, support sales activities and monitor stock movements for the company in the KZN region.

The incumbent must:

Responsibilities:

• Manage all operational aspects including distribution operations, customer services, human resources, administration and sales activities.
• Manage the warehouse function for the branch including invoicing, stock control, management of stores and staff.
• Implementing office policies by establishing standards and procedures: measuring results against standards.
• Identify areas of improvement and propose corrective actions that meet challenges and leverage growth actions.
• Monitor customer satisfaction and take appropriate action on customer complaints.
• Assess local market conditions and identify current and prospective sales opportunities.
• Maintain a database of the competitor’s landscape with regards to price levels and offers, to constantly position the company offers correctly on the different markets.
• To manage the implementation of and the adherence to the company business plan and budgets.
• Participate in channel activities with the respective sales engineers and sales managers to seek volume growth opportunities.
• Maintain availability at all times for both direct and indirect customers.
• Ensure that extensive knowledge is collected and maintained on all house accounts to ensure consistently high customer satisfaction rating.
• Oversee and manage a sound sales strategy with the assistance of the sales manager.
• Conduct regular sales meetings with external sales force.
• Carry out regular communication and reporting to head office, directors and board members.
• Sound communication with other branches and head office ensuring free and fast communication at all times.

Income and Expenditure Management:

• Manage budgets and allocate funds accordingly.
• Analyze and control expenditure to conform to budgetary requirements.
• Assist with debtors and creditors and supervise staff.
• Prepare management reports as and when required.
• Provide monthly feedback to management and respective sales staff a summary of the actions and effects.
• Maximize net profit.

Strategic Capability:

• Achieve strategic objectives against specified performance measures.
• Translate strategies into action plans.
• Develop detailed action plans to execute strategic initiatives.
• Manage calculated risks.

Human Resources:

• Maintain office staff job results by coaching, counseling and disciplining employees: planning monitoring and appraising job results.
• Assist with the requisition of staff as and when needed.
• Ensure that staffing levels are correct and at agreed levels.
• Hold regular performance appraisals with all staff, identifying areas of development and training needs.
• Take action in case of staff discipline problems and staff grievances in accordance with the companies disciplinary and grievances procedures.

Procurement Management:

• Interact with the companies (Foreign Suppliers) hosting regular visits and in conjunction conducting meetings with current and potential customers.
• Consistent and frequent contact with all branches and their respective managers in terms of operations, product information, availability, and pricing.

Skills / Experience / Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree or Management Diploma (NQF 7)
• Proven branch management and sales experience
• Ability to meet sales targets
Excellent organizational skills
• Result driven and customer focused
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
• Decision making skills and high level of accuracy.
• Effective organizational skills
• Former electrical qualification or experience will be an added advantage
• Minimum 5 – 10 year’s experience in the electrical industry or at an organization that deals in distribution and supply.
