Building Electrician (4 month contract)

Our client, a facilities management company seeks to appoint a self-motivated and energetic individual to perform a wide range of Electrical installation, maintenance and other duties. This is a 4 month contract with a view of being extended.

Requirements:
• General Building Aircon maintenance
• Relevant Completed Electrical Engineering Qualification N 4- N 6 / S 1- S 4
• Trade Tested Electrician
• Wireman’s license (would be advantageous)
• 3 Years’ experience in corporate building electrical work (three phase systems) and PLC’s
• Must be articulate and able to communicate effectively at all levels
• Must be computer literate
• Must be in possession of a valid driver’s licence.
• Aircon maintenance experience would be beneficial.

Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Facilities Manager, your role as Electrician will include but is not limited to the following:
• Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
• Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
• Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
• Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
• Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
Maintain current electrician's license or identification card to meet governmental regulations.
• Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
• May need to prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes.
• Perform duties such as maintaining records and files, preparing reports and ordering supplies and equipment.
• Provide preliminary sketches and cost estimates for materials and services.
Place conduit (pipes or tubing) inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes.
• Perform physically demanding tasks, such as lifting heavy objects and may be required to work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
• Provide assistance during emergencies by operating generators, etc.
