Our client a leader in the Agricultural and Manufacturing industry are looking to engage the services of a Business Development Manager. This position will require some traveling locally and abroad.The incumbent will be responsible for identifying new opportunities by locating, evaluating and presenting new business ideas.

Qualifications

Bachelors Degree in relevant Engineering field.
Qualification in Business Management or Financial Management.
MBA will be advantageous.

Experience

Previous experience in relevant environment
Broad understanding of relevant technologies and engineering required
Previous business development experience
Previous commercial/financial experience preferred

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Research and identify new business opportunities (mergers/acquisitions/greenfields project development) in line with strategic objectives of company. You will be required to coordinate the implementation process of the new projects with the relevant business units until the project is successfully established.
Identifies or proposes potential business deals.
Evaluates potential business deals by way of economic analysis, understanding of market trends, technical evaluations, as well as understanding of country and political risks.
Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of your chosen market or industry in order to identify opportunities to develop new business.
Leads all aspects of acquisition projects including financial analysis, transaction structuring and negotiation of agreements.
Generate reports and presentations to motivate the merits of projects, as well as to make investment recommendations, to senior executives.

NEGOTIATION

Consult on negotiation strategy and tactics with all proposed acquisition/development targets based on deep knowledge of targets and relationships built.
Particular focus on negotiating the best possible deal and managing business contracts and projects from inception to completion. You will need to understand the business needs of your relevant stakeholders.
Closes new business deals by coordinating requirements, developing and negotiating contracts, integrating contract requirements with business operations.
Develops negotiating strategies and positions by studying integration of new venture with company strategies and operations; examining risks and potentials; estimating partners' needs and goals.

KNOWLEDGE SHARING, LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT

Identifies trendsetter ideas by researching industry and related events, publications, and announcements, tracking individual contributors and their accomplishments and doing feasibility studies on the market.
Enhance own development by taking responsibility for staying informed and up to date with industry knowledge.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS

Building relationships with existing clients in an attempt to increase their current spend.
Build and maintain positive relationships throughout company and external networks.
Liaise with business, operations and other stakeholders to facilitate the development of ideas into viable options.
High level reporting and alignment for approvals as well as preparing board documentation for approval.
