Our client in the leading generic pharmaceutical industry requires a Business Development Manager, Midrand
The duties will be the following:
•The development of a portfolio strategy which will ensure the business is competitive in the generics market.
• To develop a 10-year pipeline- identifying which launches can be secured through the internal pipeline and which will need to be secured through Business Development activities.
• To negotiate and secure in licence deals to fill gaps identified in the portfolio strategy
• To secure as many early to market opportunities using patent information, as well as a working knowledge of the required timelines to secure registration of medicines in South Africa
• To track and analyze the market to identify suitable potential product, dossier and company acquisitions and in-licences, as determined by the portfolio strategy of the business
• To manage all the legal and financial aspects related to Product Portfolio Development opportunities
• Forecast portfolio opportunities
• Liaise closely with Commercial Managers and other key business partners to ensure portfolio strategy is aligned to the needs of the business
• In conjunction with the Portfolio Development Manager identify and develop growth platforms for the Company.
• To manage specific Product Portfolio Development Projects as required by the business, including all legal and financial aspects.
• Track MCC registrations of the entire market
Candidate Requirements:
• Matric with HG mathematics
• Tertiary qualification advantageous, preferably in commercial, financial or scientific field
• Computer skills necessary
• Minimum of 5 years pharmaceutical experience.
• Knowledge of pharmaceutical environment, preferably generics
• Good computer, communication and presentation skills
• Working knowledge of generic compounds and classes
• Understanding of IMS and other data sources
• Negotiation skills
• Strategic analysis and development
• Analytical and process management skills
• Excellent communication skills- both verbal and written
• Computer literacy, particularly excel
• Ability to work cross functionally
• Ability to meet and deliver on project deadlines
• Pharmaceutical understanding and experience
• People skills
• Presentation skills
