I am looking for a BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER with at least 2 years commercial experience. An inherent ability to identify viable commercial opportunities.

An exciting and challenging opportunity has become available for a Business Development Manager within the Commercial Business Unit. This position is based at the Support Centre in the Northern Suburbs and reports directly to the Commercial Director.
We are looking for a resilient, efficient and influential individual with a compelling commercial flair and business acumen, to convert key strategic business initiatives into viable business entities.
This is an exciting and challenging opportunity that will require the successful candidate to contribute significantly to enabling the business to achieve its long-term strategic objectives and profitability indicators.
Qualifications
A Grade 12 Certificate/Matric
A relevant degree in Commerce or Business related subjects such as:
Economics
Business Science
Business Economics (Macro and Micro)
Strategic Management
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Knowledge of Project Management principles
Be innovative and show initiative.
Ability to analyse complex company and competitor data and information in order to derive commercial trends and opportunities
Ability to evaluate market conditions, and customer trends in order to propose actions to maximise opportunities
Knowledge of sales and marketing principles.
Must be articulate with good communication and presentation skills.
Possessing confidence, experience, and skills to support organizational activities.
High levels of confidentiality, credibility and trust.
Accuracy in execution, attention to detail and reliability in meeting set deadlines and work with sense of urgency.
Be self-reliant, self-motivated and take responsibility and have a sense of pride in work execution.
Be able to work independently, as well as be a team player.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Essential:
Minimum 5 years in a Senior Management position within the Retail Industry
Minimum 2 years of Commercial experience
Experience in working across a number of different business units and functions.
Preferred:
Experienced and familiar with Retail Systems and Financials, Cost Management and the evaluating feasibility of projects.
Experienced with drafting business plans for various projects as well as expansions etc.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Consolidate cross-functional data streams to give an integrated business view with insight/opportunities
Monitor trends, identify opportunities and align business activities to these opportunities.
Present research findings/insights and identify actions to be implemented in the business
Measure performance (i.e. Club and Rewards) against strategy, assumptions and KPI’s
Test and learn/hypothesis
Manage Strategic Cross-Functional Projects
Identify and evaluate projects
Align with company strategy
Build business case
Project manage and roll out
