Our client requires the services of a suitably qualified, well-motivated and results driven Business Development Manager to be appointed at Illovo, Johannesburg.

Purpose
This SA-wide role strongly contributes to the delivery of the organisation’s overall growth strategy in the SA market, leading on business development and relationship management with key Stakeholders to ensure the organisation helps their businesses grow by developing their finance capability and brand reputation. Recruitment, conversion and retention of the organisation’s students through to membership by developing relationships with universities, Approved Learning Providers (ALPs) and employers
This position will include travel throughout South Africa and may require overnight stays away from home.

Key Performance Areas
• Support the Market Head in the setting and delivery of market development strategies
• Identifies and develops partnerships with strategic employers and third party training organisations and acts in their interests as well as those of the organisation.
• Manages an agreed allocation of university, learning provider and employer accounts, developing multi-level relationships, including top to top engagement and engages CHQ and other markets to the relationship where appropriate
• Articulates a vision for employer engagement and member training that generates excitement enthusiasm and commitment from employers and members to the overall strategy events and products.
• Carries out training needs analysis with employers and facilitates the accreditation of the organisation’s CPD courses to enable greater demand and recognition
• Anticipates changing employer and member demands and likely future scenarios and stimulates debate and response within the team.
• Manages own personal development to extend managerial expertise and professional credibility.
• Builds a culture of cooperation across departments and functions to align activities to ensure delivery of the organisation’s strategy.
• Ensures financial and operational decisions across the department aligns with strategic priorities

Required Qualifications / Experience
• Educated to degree level or equivalent, holding a professional accountancy qualification is an advantage
• Extensive experience of business development and client management at a corporate level essential, with a good understanding of business and a high degree of commercial awareness
• Significant working experience within account management or sales
• Experience of project management or key account management
• Channel management exposure
• A highly-motivated, proactive and enthusiastic individual who is able to work with minimum supervision and with the ability to meet strict deadlines
• Strong networker and prospector with creativity and marketing flair
• Team player with high level of influence and strong management skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong, positive relationships with key stakeholders and partners, demonstrating good commercial awareness and business acumen
• A highly-motivated, proactive and enthusiastic individual who is able to work with minimum supervision and with the ability to meet strict deadlines
• The ability to give excellent presentations, tailored to the relevant audience
• Good working knowledge of MS Word , Excel and PowerPoint
• Understanding of accountancy related issues (a finance background would be an advantage).

Additional Information:
• May involve flexible working hours or overtime (including occasional weekend working) depending on activities undertaken;
• Travel across Markets is required for this role including overnight stays away from home;
• Fluent spoken and written English
• Experience in presenting to large audiences
