Business Development Officer

Location: Durban, KZN
Salary: Market Related

Closing Date: 09 March 2017

Purpose of the Role:
To assist in sourcing new business cross lines of service for the KZN practice, and to oversee the marketing function in KZN.

Requirements:
Business Management degree and preferably a MBA
Minimum of 8 years’ business development experience in a professional services environment of which at least 3 years at a managerial level.

Duties:
Develop business development strategies in line with KZN business development initiatives and priority accounts.
Meet with the KZN leadership to understand their individual business development strategies and requirements, and to ensure they are incorporated into the KZN strategy.
Play a strategic role in proposal responses and ensuring all new business opportunities are maximised.
Identify opportunities and challenges at priority account businesses, match these to firm products and services, and help Relationship Owners with strategies to benefit from these opportunities.
Identify business opportunities at existing clients and work with the Relationship Owners and other relevant leaders, to identify ways of approaching the appropriate people at the client to explore these opportunities and suggest solutions.
Maintain priority account plans and files, to ensure effective key account management.
Stay abreast of Thought Leadership to identify topics of relevance to the KZN market, and pursue these ideas to culminate in meaningful client interventions.
Create an effective media communications strategy for the Assistant Manager to network and manage.
Implement the national marketing strategy and plan in KZN.
Manage the KZN Client Feedback (not electronic surveys) process and report results to the KZN leadership.
Promote a relationship building approach to business development within KZN, as opposed to pushing products and services at clients and targets, and encourage this behaviour by regular reminders of the behavioural standards.
Monitor and manage administrative responsibilities for the Marketing department.
Ensure that all staff are trained, skilled and that their expertise is optimally applied, and provide coaching on an ongoing basis.
Ensure that the working environment contributes to improving staff morale and increasing productivity.
Motivate the Marketing budget on an annual zero-based approach with a view to matching expenditure to strategic goals, and then manage expenditure against the budget.
Work closely with the National CMD to ensure activities are aligned to the National Strategy and plans.
