Acanthin is a Sandton based BEE asset manager with a focus on long-short equity and long only equity portfolios. This asset management business drawing from over two decades of experience, offers hedge funds, long only equity mandates, balanced and bond portfolios across South African and offshore assets. Our investment philosophy is to seek out mispriced assets exploited from fundamental proprietary research with a view to establishing long term sustainable returns with low volatility and capital preservation as our starting points.

The business is at an early stage of development, completing three years since inception. The longer term growth potential of the firm shall exploit its very successful investment process, operations, above average returns and BEE credentials. The Fund Management industry is going through a very significant change whereby funds are migrating from large managers to newer BEE managers. Competent BEE managers with a product offering will see very substantial growth in assets over the coming years. All this will take place in a backdrop of compressing fees, an acceleration to passive and depressed equity market returns over the next decade.
