Objectives of the Role:
• Based upon excellent knowledge of the client business, deliver the strategic direction and income for each of your client accounts specifically starting and contributing to potential new business.

• The Business Unit Director is responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of a project to the client’s satisfaction and within agreed scope and timelines. Also, manage several high-level client relationships, oversee multiple projects simultaneously and look for opportunities to expand existing relationships.


Key Areas of Responsibility and Accountability:

1. Strategic Skills
• Communicate and disseminate client requests to internal teams; manage client expectations/perceptions; manage internal communications and external communication with vendors and media partners
• Responsible for driving commercial contributions towards company growth as well as account profitability
• Review project and media briefs to ensure overall strategic direction in on-target.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiencies internally
• Provide overall strategic advice on brand communications by applying the company's best approaches
• Drive the communication planning discipline for holistic solutions on brands
• Strong analytical capabilities – comfortable with numbers to provide strategic recommendations by using all available data
• Agree and set business objectives for the client and review account performance against these objectives
• To ensure a clear understanding of the client’s strategic and operational requirements and communicate this to your team
• Identify and analyse dimensions of client positioning and determine benefit strategies in support of this
• Through close relationships with your clients, continuously develop the strategic direction of each client account and ensure communication of any directional changes to your team
• To drive the provision of the company's services into the heart of your team so that they maximise the opportunity to benefit from access to the range of services that are available within the Group thereby building the strength of the business relationship through delivery of value added services to the benefit of the client
• Stay on top of news and media trends and bring them to the attention of clients and associates as is appropriate


2. Client Account Management
• Establish relationship framework in collaboration with the client
• Build and manage senior client relationships (expectations, communications, escalation, etc.)
• Understand the Clients culture, capabilities, team structure and take decisions to ensure success for the client
• Develop case studies on clients’ business
• Deliver high standards of client satisfaction, measuring this through the measurement and analytics tools
• Through research and actively networking within the industry, ensure that the company is at the forefront of strategic planning and innovation and that this is shared across your peer group and throughout your team
• Entertain clients appropriately to cement relationships and better understand their business needs.


3. Operating and Technical Requirements
• Analyse key issues and risks in the program and assess business impact
• Drive effective communication of issues and risks to the client when relevant
• Set project quality and performance standards
• Assess and manage issues within, and across, multiple projects
• Review overall strategic and creative work to ensure compliance to quality on all client deliverables set forth in the creative brief
• Display critical thinking in evaluating work before it is presented to client

4. People Management
• Drives succession planning for all roles within the team
• Build a positive, collaborative working environment for the team
• Build strong relationships with senior staff members including business and media strategy
• To support the pro-active recruitment and development of the best teams within the company
• To utilise human resources productively to maximise service for the client and income for the company
• To manage the performance of the team
• Create clear development plans for the team in line with business and individual needs
• To drive the company brand through all people management activities, specifically amongst the future business leaders

5. New Business
• Identify areas of possible business growth within existing client base and new clients
• Responsible for identifying areas of business growth and establishing solutions that are aligned to requirements and budgets
• Establish and maintain relationships with key decision makers in order to secure new business
• When required, participate in pitches and help with new business wins outside of the client
• To actively network within the industry to identify and create potential leads, contacts, opportunities for the company
• To retain key clients
• Achieve a new business target as is set at the beginning of each financial year

6. Financial Management
• To set and direct the delivery of the income targets for each client
• To manage and monitor the income from all clients
• To develop annual profit plans with the assistance of Group Finance
