Complement Recruitment are recruiting for a Buyer from the Automotive, Component / Commodities sector. SYSPRO experience is non-negotiable as is automotive commodities purchasing. This is a permanent position based in Port Elizabeth. Duties include, but are not limited to Sourcing, negotiating and buying of goods, materials and services to meet the Company’s operational requirements. Components and commodities sourcing in South Africa. You will work with to build localization plans for different components being delivered to the plants in South Africa. Key Responsibilities & Job Objectives:
• Purchase goods, materials and services to ensure that the company operational needs are met, taking into account price, quality and delivery and to ensure continuity of supply.
• General and Task Management - Purchase goods, materials, components or services in line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets
• Support the purchasing function and other relevant departments and communicate any supply problems which may impact on business operations
• Act as an interface between suppliers and other relevant departments on purchasing processes and new projects and activities
• Monitor and advise on any issues which present risk or opportunity to the organization
• Monitor market trends, competitor strategies and market suppliers
• Provide analysis on costs, new and existing and review cost reduction activities
• Prepare reports and updates as and when required
• Work closely with others in the procurement function and review opportunities for continuous improvement and business improvements
• Adhere to any health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of self, staff and visitors
• Negotiate contracts, improve prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings utilising negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods
• Prepare and raise purchase orders and order schedules
• Build, maintain and manage supplier relationships and keep up good communications
• Ensure that a professional and consistent approach is taken in relation to all supplier relationships
• Ensure compliance to company guidelines, purchasing policies and procedures guidance during supplier negotiations and contracts award process.
• Conduct research for new components and suppliers
• Compile data relating to supplier performance to enable evaluation
• Assess and evaluate suppliers and contribute to performance reviews to ensure contract compliance
• Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery or invoice issues
• Identify and evaluate potential automotive component suppliers in South Africa
• Participate in Supplier Evaluation activities
• Build business cases that meet the requirement of Quality, Delivery, Cost, Feature, Technology, Sustainability and Risk Management
• Work cross functionally with other stakeholder’s to implement decided parts
• Manage negotiation and contract management
• Work with colleagues in Purchasing contributing to Automotive supplier strategies
• Secure that Supplier in your portfolio fully meet requirements, i.e. logistic demands
• Work with cost improvement ideas in your portfolio
• Manage all project related supplier relations
• Ensure supplier readiness for production
• Make presentation to Management for business case presentations

Education and Job Experience
• Matric, Diploma or Degree in Business, Engineering or related field (Purchasing)
• Must have 3 - 5 years Automotive Purchasing and negotiation experience: NON-NEGOTIABLE
• Must have 3 - 5 years solid experience of local parts, commodities sourcing projects
• Syspro experience non negotiable
• Driver’s License, Own Vehicle

Experience Levels:
? Previous experience of working in a purchasing team within an automotive or manufacturing environment
? Good knowledge of purchasing, negotiation, commercial understanding and cost breakdown
? Experience of working closely with suppliers
? Able to add value, reduce costs and in put to business improvements
? An understanding of automotive processes and components would be advantageous
? Computer literate, with advanced Excel skills/abilities
