Job Title:  Intern: C# Developer
(Ideal opportunity for FET College and University Graduates)
 

Introduction

A growing Cape Town-based, South African Software House, delivering C# development and support of high-end retail software, is looking for IT Development Interns, focusing on developing, testing and supporting custom built C# Enterprise Software for a range of South African clients.
 
There are a number of internships available covering development, testing and software support.
 
The internship will have an initial contract with a 3 months probation period during which the Interns will receive ongoing training, mentorship, guidance and assistance. During the probation period the Team Leader or Manager concerned will evaluate the progress and performance of the intern and give them feedback. Only if the interns have successfully completed the 3-month probation period and demonstrated ability, may they be contracted for a further period of up to 9 months, making the internship a 12-month contract in total. Mentorship will continue until such time as the interns are competent to complete their tasks unassisted.
 
NB: The internship will not necessarily result in permanent employment at the end of the 12 months.
 
However, for clarity, should an intern apply for a permanent position after the internship has been completed and be appointed, they will still be regarded as an intern until such time as they are able to complete their tasks unassisted, without mentorship on an ongoing basis.
 
 This is a great opportunity for successful applicants to gain substantial Enterprise application development experience on the Microsoft .Net platform.
 

Key Requirements :

• A relevant IT/IS tertiary Qualification – NQF5 or above
• .NET (C#) or Java Development skills would be preferable
• Must be able to work within a big team in a structured environment.
• Must have very good verbal and written communication skills in English (Business English)
• Must be able to work collaboratively in a team. Exposure to scrum would be advantageous but not essential

Education and General Working Experience

• Ideally related Degree or an IT/IS Diploma with exposure to .NET(C#) or Java development.
• Any C# or Java development experience in a working environment would be an advantage but is not essential
• Exposure to object-oriented design concepts would be an advantage

 

Commencement Date of Internship:

• 1 February 2015.  All applicants must be available and fully qualified (completed and passed tertiary studies) by commencement date.
