A vacancy exists in the Durban Office for CAD operator in the Transportation Discipline Group to perform technical tasks connected to civil engineering research as well as the design, construction and maintenance of buildings and other structures.
Job Specification
Main Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties :
• Manage and control issuing and receipt of drawings in line with QMS requirements.
• To assist the project team to produce presentation and construction drawings for the Roads and Highways disciple group.
• To assist project leaders in information related to data gathering and capturing.
• Design, prepare and compile graphics and presentations for tender purposes.
• Assists project leaders to extract measurements and co-ordinates.
• Ensure that all relevant information pertaining to project tasks are recorded correctly and timeously on Proman.
• Filing of drawings and documents and other electronic media.
• Acquisition and transfer of skills in field of expertise within the business unit and within the group.
Specialist knowledge required
• Ability to render professional grade engineering drawings plans using AutoCAD, Micro-station, Prokon, PADDS, model maker, Pipe Maker and GIS systems.
Practical experience required
• Extensive experience in production of roads and high ways layout, long sections and cross sections.
• Experience in structural steel, reinforced concrete, bridge detailing, as well as an array of civil modelling and design.
Personal characteristics
• Work with minimum supervision with excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Must be highly focused to deliver drawings on time.
• Must be able to work under pressure.
• Must be innovative in drawing productions and filing.
Requirements
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
Educational level
• Matric or Equivalent
• AutoCAD certificate / Draughting Certificate
• Technical Diploma as Civil & Structural draughtsperson
• Data Automata Diploma (GPS/GIS) will be added advantage
• Must have 5 years of experience
