OverviewMy Client a Large National Hotel Group is recruiting for a Carpenter to join the maintenance team of one of their 5 Star Hotels in Sandton , Johannesburg.Remuneration :
R 10 000.00 per month Benefits will be discussed in interview annual leave normal statutory deductions
Main Purpose: Reporting to the Maintenance Manager and Assistant Maintenance Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for the repairs and maintenance of furniture, fittings and equipment throughout the Hotel. The incumbent will be accountable for setting a 5 star plus standard of excellence in all areas within the scope of the function. Qualifications:
Basic Woodwork/Carpentry certificate. ( Trade Tested – Preferable)Spray-painting experience.Literacy and Basic Mathematics EssentialPrevious Hotel or Building services experience an advantage.
Requirements:
Responsible to operate within the company’s policies and procedures as well asLeading Hotels of the World Standards.Good communication skills.Proficient in use of basic hand tools, paints, stains, oils and waxes.Experience in furniture restoration and repairs, sanding, polishing and veneering.Dedication and commitment to the job.Must be able to perform under pressure.A minimum of 2 to 3 years’ experience in similar position.Must be able to work shifts.Must be able to work in other areas based on operational requirements

Key Areas Of Responsibility
Furniture, fittings and equipment repairs and restoration.Cutting, splicing, jointing and fitting of skirting and ceiling boards.Check carpentry tools and equipment are clean, neat and in good working condition.Attend to breakdown, corrective and preventative maintenance work orders.Ensure safe working conditions at all times.
Infrequent Tasks:
To perform extra responsibilities outside the normal sphere of daily duties and working overtime when necessary.
