Qualifications & Experience:
• B Degree in Law, Risk, Commerce or Banking (NQF level 6)
• 5 years Compliance Management experience within financial services (asset management/insurance industry)
• Knowledge, understanding and application of Regulatory Compliance
• Registered CATII Compliance Officer at FSB
Duties
You will be required to:
• manage and monitor compliance obligations and risks, as well as reporting, interacting with regulators, industry bodies and internal clients in relation to key legislation: the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act ("FAIS"), the Financial Intelligence Centre Act ("FICA"), and any other applicable legislation.
• Governance and oversight with FAIS and applicable legislation.
• Be the central point of entry for the Business Unit in terms of regulatory compliance activities and related policies such as the Compliance Framework, policy framework and awareness, new product approval process, compliance reviews, reporting etc.
• Responsible for the review, challenge and roll out of compliance policies and standards by providing feedback during compliance forums.
• Maintain a leading edge compliance framework by working closely with HR and key stakeholders.
• Manage the financial plan and operational budget of the function in line with the strategic objectives.
• Develop and maintain with Key Executives / Senior Business leaders across the business to drive ownership of the Management and general awareness of the Compliance function and to promote a proactive approach to the management of regulatory compliance risks.
• Conduct monthly oversight reviews with direct reports to understand the business performance and support them to develop corrective actions where required. Escalate only major issues.
• Act as key advisor to business unit heads during the review of opportunities for the creation of new business categories, acquisitions, disposals or new joint ventures that will have Group wide impact.
• Keep the various stakeholders informed of the operation and progress of regulatory compliance efforts and to present emerging issues / risks through the provision of regular reports.
• Continuously mentor the team of the area on proactive people management techniques.
• Review and sense check succession plans in place for mission critical roles, and that these are delivered against.
• Ensure the Risk transformation objectives are incorporated and achieved.
