Purpose of the position: Responsible for driving the overall online business for a particular category group. Overseeing the financial and traffic growth of a category group. Understanding and developing the content within the category group to drive sales and engagement. Utilising analytics to improve sales and drive marketing for the category.

Job Description:
Category Revenue
• Increase overall sales within the category
• Develop a sales plan for the category
• Forecasting on sales growth
• Execute campaigns based on consumer trends
• Daily tracking of sales
• Analytical approach to all sale initiatives
• Introduce new revenue channels within the category
• Develop working relationships with suppliers

Category Improvement
• Develop and grow the category by proposing and implementing agreed category improvements focusing on:
- Attributes
- Layout
- Product
• Content management
• Product expertise within the category
• Develop a deep understanding of customer needs and consumer buyer behaviour

Category Development
• Grow the number of products within the category
• Work closely with merchandising team to introduce new products to the category
• Monitor and assist with marketplace strategy relevant to the category
• Execution of eCommerce and Merchant category strategies
• Understand competitors and their strategies

Category Marketing
• Develop strategies for consumers and businesses to return to the web (retention)
• Leverage all marketing channels to increase sales and acquire new customers
• Drive and execute measurable campaigns with all stakeholders of the business
• Responsible for SEO for the category
• Monitor and adjust Google Adword campaigns
• Support digital marketing with content and insights

Reporting and analytics
• Weekly reporting on key web metrics for the category
• Google analytics reporting for the category
• Report and be accountable for category sales.


Functionality and master data
• Testing of category enhancements and sales features
• Ensuring sufficient and appropriate product data for the category
• Develop processes for validating product listings within the category
• Build and maintain the web category structure

Stakeholder Engagement
• Work closely with merchants, fulfillment, store operations and customer service management to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction
• Liaise across the business to deliver the category strategy


Qualifications and Experience
• A bachelor's degree or equivalent in Commerce or Marketing
• At least 3-5 years of experience in sales, operations and/or marketing.
• Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
• eCommerce experience
• In-depth understanding of sales and profitability
• In-depth understanding and experience in targeted marketing and operations
• Key knowledge of performance Improvement and split testing
