Job Description:

We seek to employ a Chief Financial Officer in Cape Town who will have an overall financial accountability to provide financial leadership to the company.
The successful incumbent will advise on and structure strategic partnerships, alliances and acquisitions as well as serve as a credible, knowledgeable and trusted resource to the CEO and other senior leaders.
Actively contributes towards the strategic vision and growth agenda of the organisation
Cultivates and fosters strategic relationships and potential alliances to this end
Supports the CEO and Business Development Director in identifying and investigating new business opportunities, including developing value propositions, deal structuring and negotiation
Leads the financial aspects of potential activity and evaluates opportunities
Conducts financial modelling for new acquisitions and prepares projected consolidated P&Ls and balance sheets
Investigates and prepares proposals for funding where needed
Participates in formulating the company's future direction and supporting tactical initiatives
Partners with the CEO and other senior executives on strategic and operational issues as they arise
Provides financial discipline and business decision support to evaluate long term and short term strategic business opportunities
Offers quality meaningful analyses and financial insights & perspectives necessary for strategic planning and execution
Provides strategic recommendations based on financial analysis and projections, and revenue / expense analysis
Analyses and develops opportunities for enhanced cash flow management, investment opportunities etc.
Provides timely and meaningful analyses and reporting to operational leaders
Plays a critical role in analyzing, shaping and challenging business proposals, budgets, forecasts etc.
Identifies the areas of improvement from cost and revenue perspective and drive efficiency and improvement in respective areas.
Develops and manages effective working relationships with parent company at regional and global level
Develops and manages working relationships with financial institutions and service providers, investment managers, statutory bodies etc. to ensure effective operations and to secure funds for development plans
Maintains effective internal relationships and is a credible source of financial guidance on departmental financial matters
Leads and co-ordinates an integrated financial planning process which includes inputs from all key functional areas
Provides timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports and financial forecasting
Brings in perspective from external world, closely monitors the development and accordingly analyse the impact of the same
Collaborates with relevant functions to assimilate pricing and market trend information into financial forecasts
Leads the development of the operating budget. Oversees long-term budgetary planning and cost management in alignment with the strategic plan.
Drives financial acumen and accountability across the organisation.
Should possess a good knowledge of financial matters and should apply the same in various contextual analysis.
Oversees all financial transactions, including billing, finance, accounting and reporting.
Establishes efficient workflows and business processes to meet the needs of financial information for multiple internal and external stakeholders
Prepares materials and presents, as necessary, financial information to the Board of Directors or other stakeholders. Prepares and communicates monthly and annual financial statements.
Responsible for oversight of financial internal controls and co-ordination of all financial audits.
Develops and monitors policies and procedures within generally accepted accounting principles and corporate guidelines to ensure sufficient cash flow, reduce operating costs, and increase revenues. Maintain general ledger structure, chart of accounts, policies and procedures to enable financial statement preparation and compliance with all required financial audits.
Ensures full compliance with all financial, legal and tax regulations and requirements
Manages and mitigates key elements of the company’s risk profile
Conducts due diligence and manages the timing and implementation of significant development or technology investments
Effectively selects, manages, motivates and rewards staff to achieve finance department objectives
Ensures and manages company secretariat duties for the company
Monitors all open legal issues involving the company
Keeps abreast of new developments in the financial arena and implements changes and improvements as needed

Qualifications:

Advanced degree preferred (CA or MBA with appropriate accounting and finance background);
Demonstrated excellence in leading all aspects of finance and M&A activities, preferably in a pharmaceutical environment
Extensive progressive financial experience of not less than ten years at both a strategic level as well as an operational level
Has the functional and technical knowledge and skills to do the job at a high level of accomplishment
High level of computer literacy and knowledge of accounting systems. Should have good knowledge of MS office and SAP
Skilled in examining, developing, re-engineering, and recommending financial and technology policies and procedures
Able to execute complex financial models and forecasts
