Purpose of the Job

“The Nerve Centre of Execution”

Assume responsibility for all the financial and financial management aspects of all business units/Pillars across all geographies.

Provide leadership and co-ordination in the administrative, business planning, accounting and budgeting efforts of the organisation.

Strategic Projects

Responsible for the execution and management of all strategic projects including reporting of flight plan status across all the Business Units and Shared Service functions.

The incumbent will report directly to all the Business Units Pillar Heads Executives (as well as Strategic Shared Services) on all financial matters as they relate to financial management.

The incumbent will also have a reporting line to the CEO relating to strategic issues, budgets and financial performance.

Business Unit Heads will provide annual performance assessment with input from CEO.

Key Responsibilities

Business partner to Business Unit Pillar Head Executives

Develop capabilities to provide critical financial information to Executives (including CEO).

Monitor and assess financial performance against annual budgets and long term strategic objectives.

Oversee Capex spend and cost management in accordance with strategic plans.

Monitor and assess overall financial performance versus business case projections.

Build MIS capability and assist in the interpretation of results and implementation initiatives.

Management of consolidated accounts.

Serve as the key point of contact for Auditors.

Assist in Corporate Finance and Bancassurance transactions where appropriate.

Oversee and assume responsibility for presentation of audited financial statements.

Special Projects

Serve as a business partner to Business Units in particular Shared Strategic Services Head for the fulfillment of prioritized projects.

Ongoing management/assessment of special projects spend against budgets/targets (capex).

Co-ordination of any in country projects through Pillar/Business Units or Strategic Shared Service Heads.

Monitoring and reporting on status of all prioritized projects across Liberty Africa (exco reporting).

Management of Exco agendas, minutes and monitoring of action items.

QUALIFICATION

CA minimum requirement.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum 10 years of financial and management experience with financial operations of an organisation (Auditing experience is included).

Deep seated IFRS experience

Insurance experience is required

KNOWLEDGE

Knowledge in Strategic planning and execution.

Knowledge of finance, budgeting, cost control principle, IFRIS (working knowledge).

Knowledge of financial metrics and MIS requirements.

Project Management principles.

Working knowledge of Corporate Finance principles.
