The Drakenstein Local Tourism Association (DLTA) has recently been established as a destination marketing tourism organisation serving the area encompassing Paarl, Wellington and the surrounding towns of Saron, Gouda, Hermon and Simondium.

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting the Drakenstein area as a prime tourism destination, with a view to generating a substantial increase in tourist activity, and growth in business opportunities, jobs and economic development.

Key responsibilities include:
? Strategy development, planning and reporting
? Tourism marketing
? Staff leadership and management
? Stakeholder management
? Operations management
? Finance and accounts
? Project management
? Liaison with a wide range of stakeholders.

In addition to proven marketing experience with clearly demonstrated accomplishments, the ideal candidate has:
? At least a third level degree in Business, Tourism or Marketing Management (post graduate qualification in Management is desirable)
? A minimum of 8 years’ experience in the Tourism promotion sector, including at least 3 years’ Senior Management experience
? Demonstrated experience in strategy development and implementation
? Strong organisation skills
? Diplomacy, political awareness and ability to form and maintain strong and positive relationships with stakeholders
? Proven experience in public speaking, facilitation and media relations ? Problem solving skills.

The incumbent will report to the DLTA Board of Directors. A market related remuneration package will be negotiated based on qualifications, skills and experience.
