This is an EXCO / Senior management role within the Short Term Insurance discipline:

Sound financial management of the Group
Effective financial reporting of the Group
Managing the financial risk, including the financial aspects of all regulatory requirements of the Group
Manage company on sound business and ethical principles.
Undertake people management and development of direct reports

Key responsibilities:

Oversee operations (excl. Underwriting and Claims operations) within the Group
Improve processes and systems
Oversee the legal and Compliance function
Oversee the Group Risk function
Oversee the management of Information systems
Maintain good internal/external stakeholder relations
Staff management in support functions such as IT, Risk management and Compliance


Qualifications & Experience:

CA(SA) qualification
Sound Financial Services experience within a short term insurance environment
Sound management and leadership experience.

Competencies:

Structured working methodologies, accuracy and deadline driven
Ability to identify potential improvements and making recommendations
Comprehensive knowledge of the Short Term insurance Acts, including Board Notices and Regulations –both NAM and RSA)
Comprehensive knowledge of the FAIS Act, including all related Board Notices and Regulations (RSA)
Comprehensive knowledge of Risk Management. King lll and SAM requirements
Good understanding of IT risks, information systems and controls to IT
Leadership abilities (vision, courage, values, ethics, connecting with people)
Networking and natural relationship builder
