Our client in the Government sector requires a Chief Quantity Surveyor in Nelspruit

Duties will include the following:

Apply policies, methods, practices and standards on quantity surveying services, as well as ensure compliance with departmental space and cost norms, requirements and legislation
Prepare cost estimates on building projects or existing and proposed built infrastructure, as well as consultants’ designs, drawings and details against best practice norms as applicable to new installations, upgrades and/or maintenance contracts
Develop and maintain cost tariffs for all categories of ECD maintenance work in the province
Ensure that maintenance assessments are conducted on the ECDs
Conduct site visits and monitor quality of work and quality assure invoices
Manage the ECD conditional grant as per the grant framework and reporting requirements
Develop tender documentation and manage the appointment of consultants
Scrutinize and approve fee accounts of Consultants
Conduct an annual evaluation of the options chosen by the province for assessments and implement
Develop a procurement strategy for the procurement of bulk material requirements
Supervise the work of the project coordinators
Ensure that the
National Treasury Infrastructure Reporting Model is updated monthly
Prepare reports for management meetings
Attend national meetings on the conditional grant
Undertake research
Approve Project Stage reports & designs, in accordance with strategic decision making points as defined in the Provincial Infrastructure Delivery Framework.

Candidate Requirements:

Degree in Quantity Surveying
10 years minimum post-qualification experience in Quantity Survey
Compulsory registration as a Professional Quantity Surveyor with SACQSP
A valid Code B driver's license
8 years minimum experience in costing and managing of construction and maintenance works.
The various facets of quantity surveying practices, including construction methods, techniques and systems applied in the full spectrum of the quantity surveying profession
Contract building law applied in the profession
All aspects of building engineering design and analysis, engineering operational communication, processes, maintenance applied in the profession, technical consulting, programme and project management and financial management
Quantity surveying and planning
Strategic capability and leadership
Problem-solving and analysis
Advanced presentation
Computer literacy in MS Office Packages and Win QS
Financial and budgeting

Salary: up to R 64 000 per month
